M-300L

DTI has the capability to rebuild almost any type of machine tool. The company purchased a Mori Seiki M-300L vertical mill, and completely rebuilt it.

The machine was disassembled, and cleaned. X,Y, and Z axis motors, thrust bearings, and ball screws were removed and replaced, re-furbished, and rebuilt as required then the parts were reassembled. The axis linear ways were cleaned and new wipers installed. New way covers were installed. DTI removed the shattered ceramic liner and designed and manufactured a replacement tool steel liner. DTI, using techniques from our aerospace assembly department, then shrunk fit the liner in the shaft.

The use of ceramic bearings allowed DTI to increase the maximum spindle speed from the original 6,000 rpm to 10,000 rpm. Many of the damaged enclosure panels and doors were discarded. DTI's design department reverse designed the panels and doors and these parts were then manufactured by our sheet metal department. Many feet of damaged electrical wiring and flex duct was also replaced.

The operator panel face was recreated by a local vendor using artwork generated in our customer service department. New switches and push buttons were then installed. The machine was then prepped and painted to its original colors.

All the machine functions were then tested and adjusted as required. Finally the machine was installed in a manfacturing area, operation training performed on it, and released for production.
